Then there's this guy, in his own league.
He travels around Japan singing his song, "Mountain Song" and wearing rainbow chaps and a cowboy hat.
The best part is that the song is a kid's song against bullying.
The other best part is the part when he says, "Egao time ga ippai aru kara"
But probably the part around 2:32 where he starts to rap about how our hearts are mountains just for you.
Mountain Song!!

hahaha, awesome.
a friend of mine said they're big on bullying in japan, even when it comes to adults. is it true?
Do you know if there are any nail salons that do manicures and pedicures in Tokyo?:-) I am going to Tokyo in about a month and I would like to get my nails done. I have been following your blog for some time now, I really like it. Keep up the good work :-)
I'm moving to Japan to go to school in January, so reading your blog is lots of fun. Did you move to Japan before or after you got married? I was just wondering, because I'm going to have to borrow alot of money to go to school abroad, but I REALLY want to move to Japan. I love it there. Do you have any suggestions about getting work?
I know this is completely off topic. I think you and Clemence Poesy look alike. It's been on my mind for a while but I couldn't put a name on it.Please don't take it negatively.
Thanks for answering my comment last time. Haha and I do know about beign fat as vegeterian since I`m actually a vegetarian too (for only about 5 months though, so i`m new), that`s why I wanted to know your reason. I didn't understand why you always said "i don`t eat meat beacause i want to eat healthy food", like saying meat is not healthy so I thought you were beign vegetarian just because you thought meat made you fat. Now i have a nother perspective of you ;) so i respect and understand your reasons.
I`m a vegetarian because of the animal reason. I really wouldn`t mind eating meat if i knew it was just one animal who was killed for the productions and it wasn`t killed in a horrible way. But since they kill thousand of animals at once and abuse them in such a repulsive way i decided to stop eating meat. I want to be a vegan actually since the production of milk and egg is also abusing but I`m starting slow since it`s really hard eating bread or drinking milk.
(Just an extra comment: I saw a picture of you and I have to say you are really skinny. How you are is fine, but if you are planning of losing more weight please don`t because I think it wouldn`t be healthier anymore. I`m just giving you my "outsider view" because sometimes one won`t notice how skinny one is until someone else tells you)
This is getting way too long so... i really like your blog it`s very interesting and fun to read. I`m also planing of going to live to Japan so I`m trying to read everywhere i can about how it is there to get a "real" idea of Japan.
Bybye, lots of kisses.
MI!
Wow, how could I be angry about that...I like her so much! That is a huge compliment because she's so much prettier than I am!
When she was on the cover of Jalouse magazine one month, two of my friends sent me emails telling me I looked similar to her. It's not true, but I'm flattered!
Thanks!
Oda,
There are 1204871203918203 nail salons in Tokyo. Go to Shibuya and you'll find one in every building.
They might not speak English, though.
Good luck!
Abiotique,
Yes. Bullying is a big problem. Even mothers who take their children to daycare bully each other by forming a tight group and ostracizing one mother. They invite each other out everywhere, except for that one mother. They invite their children for play dates but they never invite the unwanted mother's child. They gossip and spread rumors about her. When all the kids are playing at that park, all the mothers take their children and move if the targeted mother shows up to play. I learned all that from watching J TV dramas with my roommates. They told me it really does happen, especially in elite, private preschools.
Tokyodaze,
I'm not married! Ha.
Suggestions about work wouldn't help you these days because schools start in April and everyone has been hired for next year already.
Now is the worst time to apply for schools in Japan.
Lisa,
Thanks for the reply! Good luck with your new eating habits. It can be hard at first. I remember my first xmas without Turkey dinner or dressing (turkey as my favorite meat when I was a kid) and how I excused myself from the table to cry in my room. Granted, I was a kid then, but it was really hard.
Good luck if you decide to quit dairy and eggs, too. That's harder than anything else. If you live in a place with a lot of supportive restaurants and grocery stores that make it easy and delicious, you'll have more luck.
Haha, Japanese people call me fat and American people call me too skinny!
I'm not offended by your comment because I know you're not criticizing, but I wish that everyone would stop pointing out my weight. If I listened to everyone seriously, I would go out of my mind. My BMI is 19 so I know I am healthy.
I know that I like my body best when I am eating healthy, raw foods, not drinking alcohol, swimming regularly, hiking a lot, walking a lot, happy and in love, busy at work, hungry at night so I can look forward to breakfast every morning.
I know that I get skinny in the summer and average in the winter. That's my natural cycle and I feel healthy.
I actually already got accepted at school. My school is an American university with a campus in Japan, so the classes are in English and run on an American school-year time frame. I'm not worried about getting accepted to school, I'm really just wondering if it's hard to get work on a student visa. I think I'm allowed to work up to 28 hours a week, which isn't much, but I was wondering if it would be really hard to find a job while I'm still learning Japanese...
;) So, I'm not the only one who thinks that you look alike! I'm really glad you like her!
You're beautiful too!
