Lady Gaga was in Japan last week and dressed in the EGL style (Gothic Lolita style) that Tokyo teenagers used to wear 7-9 years ago and suburban teenagers now wear when their parents drive them in to spend the day in Tokyo. Then, she showed up at some stores dressed in another EGL dress with Yamamba / Ganguro raccoon-eyed makeup. She also carried around a Hello Kitty doll.
In other words, she looked like the biggest tourist ever.
She should just stick to wearing the "weird hats + underpants" thing she does back in America.

I saw those too. I know she did look like such a tourist. The sad thing is her stylist is Nicola Formichetti and I expected better from him, why be so predictable?

There's been a lot of press over here (North America) regarding that gothic Lolita style, on super-chic blogs like couturesnob.com and in the Globe and mail a couple months back, so it seems kind of natural to me that Gaga would think it's trendy.
But yeah, we're all behind the times here. Oh yeah, I recently read an article in Maclean's which kept referring to Akihabara as "Akihabra." Pretty sad, Canada. Pretty sad.

I was expecting more from her, too. She is famous for her outfits and I didn't expect to see a suburban teenager's outfit on her. Her stylist should know that. Oh well.

some of my 3 年生 girls saw her on tv arriving in Narita and the next day at school asked me if all American girls wear pants like that :@
