I always had to smile at the name "crunky" when I passed by it in the combini.

Also, I don't think I will ever understand the appeal of Kame.

I go to china every other 6 weeks from Houston, TX on business. In about two weeks I want to go to Japan from China. What should I expect? I've read your blogs and think I want to try Tokyo. Let me know something theodis@megalithtechnologies.com

If you don't understand the appeal of Kamenashi, maybe you could watch this.

He is not for everyone, though.

When you're over 12 years old, saying you like the Johnny's boys in Japan is seen as being really nerdy and weird. I have met a lot of closet Johnny's lovers, but most people around my age either can't stand them or think they're adorable children.

" Let me know something "

What does that mean?
If you search my site, I have written a lot about Tokyo. I even wrote two short tokyo guides. good luck!

ahhhh kame...lol

It's funny actually because he's the first Japanese "artist" that I knew of. I'm 25 and I'll say that I'm somewhat a Johnnys fan. I don't love it all but there's a few that I do love. lol

I am familiar with Johnny's and I think they are great actors. Esp Kame :)

I was wondering if you have heard about this new craze (majorly with older ladies) over Tohoshinki - a Korean import. They were hugely popular back home, and after a couple of years of struggling, they are really picking up speed.
Like...I keep seeing posts by famous artists about them, and just the other day Yamapi's sister blogged about how she & her mom were fans.

What do the general public think of them? because as I understand, there has always been friction b/w korea and japan and some people don't receive Korean entertainers very well?

I'm sorry, Koma. I'm not a Johnny's fan and have no idea who anyone is or who is popular in Japan. I think Kame is kind of hot, bit didn't even know who he was until he did some ads for Crunky, which is the funniest candy bar name ever.

Does anyone else know the answer to Koma's question?

I don't live in Japan but I do know of Tohoshinki and I know that they've been active in Japan since 2005 but really didn't start getting a bigger fan base till about early last year and now more so this year it's an even bigger fan base since they appeared at "Kouhaku" on NHK this past December.

I know that between Johnny's ent. and Tohoshinki there have been some "beef" if you want to call it that. So on Johnny's end was trying to stop Tohoshinki who was rising in popularity from appearing on shows like Music Station and other shows that Johnny has big ties with. But since Tohoshinki appeared on Kouhaku it seems that old Johnny has released the reigns a little if you will and now Tohoshinki have appeared on Music Station and other such shows and now for the first time since becoming active in Japan they will hold their first Tokyo Dome concerts in July.

I think that now a days there isn’t much friction between Japanese and Koreans in terms of entertainment because I am constantly seeing artist from both countries crossing over into each other’s market and people don’t seem to mind it very much. But then again I don’t live there but from following certain artist that’s pretty much what I can gather. I highly do recommend Tohoshinki’s music btw. Lol

No problem Julie ^_^ I was just wondering...I am not a Johnny fan myself, I moved on from that years ago. I hope I can hear your observances (if you have notices any that is!) on my more generalized question on Japanese men :)

Sorry everyone. I don't follow any of these things because I don't like the music and have no idea about anything relating to Johnny's. I don't know what Tohoshinki is at all. Sorry.

That's why this comment section is good. Please feel free to keep up these posts and ask each other questions / answer each others questions.

I'm sorry I can't give any answers about Japanese teen pop. I have no clue about that aspect of Japan.
