Being from a Northern country where it's rainy and dreary from October to May makes me feel even more happy that this Winter in Japan has been so good. It has been sunny basically the entire fall and has only rained a handful of days. It just started to get really cold in the last two weeks. The other day on my day off, I hung out with my friend in Saitama, the suburbs of Tokyo. Some people don't like Saitama but if you get away from the main station hubs, there are nice roads for walking that aren't crowded at all.

How cold is really cold? I'll be in Tokyo in February and I want to know what to be prepared for. The last time I was there it was the summer and the humidity hit me like a ton of bricks (and it's humid here in Maryland!). Has there been snow? Is it windy? Is it really, really cold?
Thanks!

Hey Lisa,
Well it's not really overly cold. I'm just a baby when it comes to cold weather. It's around 5*C to 7*C degrees at night. But the sky has had no clouds and it's always colder without cloud cover. There's no snow yet. But there's wind.
I was in Japan for a short visit last March and it was cold but bearable everywhere except Kyoto where it was completely freezing cold and I felt like just staying inside under my blanket and missing all the beautiful places in Kyoto. Of course I didn't stay in my blankets, I just bought a pair of pants and braved it. And went to a Sento bath every night to get warm again and relax.
Don't worry though, the summers here are crazy. The winters here are fine. I mean, my homeland is famous for cold winters, and compared to the Northern parts up there, Tokyo is fine weather during winter. Look at the pictures from last week. It's still sunny and everything. I'm just kind of a sissy.
Apple!
You are adorable! Also totemo utsukushi desu yo! I love the new mushroom jacket. Come to Tokyo and we can teach each other to cook. Haha. I am learning, too.
Your site is totally addictive. You have an entertaining and funny life!
